A Special School

Jesuit-initiated models of excellence in education for the most economically challenged young people within our communities now have over thirty years of experience in "breaking the cycle of poverty through education." Priority has been placed on the sustaining and expansion of Jesuit educational services into impoverished areas within the Province in the course of the next five years.

St. John Francis Regis Hospitality School

The St. John Francis Regis Hospitality School is a program undertaken by the late Fr. Harry Tompson, S.J., and Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church. The school provides at-risk teens and young adults with the skills they need to succeed in jobs in the hospitality industry. Students learn the rudiments of the restaurant business from mopping to maître d'.

Café Reconcile provides practical, on-the-job experience for St. Regis School students and employs neighborhood residents from Central City, helping them to develop skills in restaurant service and management. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development and the Office of the Social Apostolate of the Archdiocese of New Orleans are partners in Café Reconcile, joining New Orleans' passion for food with economic development for Central City.
