| 2010 Jesuit Jubilarians |
Jesuits of the New Orleans Province and invited guests will gather to honor priests and brothers, celebrating milestones of service, with the long standing tradition of the Jesuit Jubilee. Festivities begin with a special Mass at Immaculate Conception Church on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. After Mass, honorees and guests will enjoy a special reception directly across Baronne Street in the majestic ballroom of landmark hotel, The Roosevelt New Orleans. Jesuits and guests from near and far will fête honorees with the music of Joe Simon’s Jazz Quartet and a delectable menu of favorite New Orleans dishes and drinks.
This year’s Jubilarians have gifted a combined total of 1,180 years of service to the Church.

![]() | Fr. John J. Heaney, S.J., a native of Pennsylvania, entered the Society of Jesus in 1940. After serving as director of novices for the Ceylon Vice Province, he served as rector and teacher at Jesuit College Preparatory School in Dallas, and as pastor of St. Rita Church there. He has also served as a retreat director and superior at Montserrat Retreat House in Lake Dallas and most recently as associate pastor of St. Rita Church in Dallas. | ![]() | Fr. Charles A. Leininger, S.J., originally from New Orleans, entered the Society of Jesus in 1940. After studies, he served the province as assistant principal at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in Houston and later as principal of Jesuit High School in Tampa and in New Orleans. He has also served the province as socius. Fr. Leininger has taught English and Latin at Jesuit College Preparatory School, where he is currently a trustee of the school’s museum. | |
![]() | Fr. Oren W. Key, S.J., is currently in residence at Immaculate Conception Church in Albuquerque. Fr. Key has served as an instructor of religion at Spring Hill College, as teacher of Spanish and mathematics at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, and as a teacher of French and Spanish at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. He later served as pastor of Holy Family Church in Vernon, Texas, a missionary in Paraguay and a retreat director in Chile. | Celebrating 60 years in the Society | ||
![]() | Fr. David C. Borbridge, S.J., is a 1948 graduate of Jesuit High School in Tampa. After entering the Society of Jesus in 1951, he went on to teach at both Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and Rice University. He is currently a professor of theology and history at Spring Hill College. | ![]() | Fr. Anthony Concha, S.J., originally from El Paso, entered the Society of Jesus in 1950. He has served as a teacher in El Paso and at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. Before serving as chaplain for Thomason General Hospital in El Paso, he was a teacher and vice rector at St. Charles Minor Seminary in El Paso, where he now assists at Sacred Heart Church and with other various ministries in the city. | |

![]() | Fr. Paul W. Schott, S.J., a 1940 graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, served as a US Navy lieutenant before entering the Jesuits in 1950. He has since served as a teacher and minister at St. John’s High School, president of both Jesuit College Preparatory School and Jesuit High School in New Orleans, superior and director of Manresa House of Retreats, socius of the New Orleans Province, and pastor of St. Rita Church in Dallas. He is currently in residence at Holy Name of Jesus Church in New Orleans. Fr. Schott also celebrates 50 years as a Catholic priest this year. | ![]() | Fr. John R. He has served as a professor of philosophy and theology at Loyola University, Tulane University, and Spring Hill College. "Casey" Ferlita, S.J., an alumnus of Jesuit High School in Tampa, entered the Society of Jesus in 1960. Bro. Casey has served the province as assistant infirmarian in Grand Coteau, as well as assistant athletic director and prefect of discipline at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. He is currently serving as assistant to the dean of students and athletic trainer at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. | |

After entering the Jesuits in 1960, he served as infirmarian for 10 years in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. He later was a minister at both Loyola University and Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, as well the director of student activities at Spring Hill College. | ![]() | Fr. Anthony H. ![]() | Fr. Anthony J. Corcoran, S.J., is currently a missionary in Russia where he is the superior of the Russian Region of Jesuits. Previous to this assignment, he served as rector of the pre-seminary and vicar general of the Diocese of Novosibirsk in Siberia. Before his missionary work, he was a teacher of social studies at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. Fr. Corcoran, who is originally from Tucson, entered the Society of Jesus in 1985. | ![]() | Fr. After serving as socius and provincial assistant for education, he served as the director of the Jesuit Spirituality Center in Grand Coteau and as a retreat director at Montserrat Retreat House in Lake Dallas. Fr. Louapre is currently a retreat director at Ignatius House Retreat Center in Atlanta. | ![]() | Fr. Richard W. McGowan, S.J., is originally from Brooklyn, New York. After entering the Jesuits in 1946, he served the New Orleans Province as a teacher and director of guidance at Jesuit College Preparatory School and as chaplain of Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He later went on to serve as pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Decatur, Texas, and as pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Tampa. Fr. McGowan is currently associate pastor at Immaculate Conception Church in Albuquerque. | |

He entered the Society of Jesus in 1947 and has served as a professor of history and dean of arts and sciences at Loyola University, president of the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkley, associate editor of America Magazine, and as secretary for Ignatian Spirituality at the Jesuit Curia in Rome. Campbell is currently an associate professor of theater and drama at Spring Hill College, where he also served as rector of the community for six years. | ![]() | Fr. Michael D. Dooley, S.J., a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans, entered the Jesuits in 1973. He served as a theology teacher and chaplain at Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and at Jesuit College Preparatory where he was a teacher and director of faculty spiritual development. After serving as the assistant director of novices, he is now the provincial assistant for secondary education and in residence at Immaculate Conception Church in New Orleans. |
