| Four New Orleans Province Jesuits Ordained as Deacons |
As the last stage of their journey to the priesthood, Jesuit seminarians are ordained as transitional deacons early in their final year of theological studies. Upon completion of these studies and usually at the beginning of the summer, they are ordained to the full ministry of the priesthood.
Bao Nguyen, Brian Reedy, and Danny Tesvich were ordained to the diaconate on Saturday, October 8, 2011, in Boston where they are presently finishing their studies at Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. They were among the twelve men ordained this day by Archbishop Jean-Louis Bruguès, O.P., Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education.
Jay Hooks will be ordained as deacon in Oakland, California, on Saturday, October 22, 2011. He is currently a student at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley.
All four of these men will be ordained priests on June 9, 2012, at St. Joseph's Chapel on the campus of Spring Hill College in Mobile.
Our congratulations and prayers go with these new deacons!
